Ti Cheri

Meet "ti cheri", a little boy whom I just met this week. He was brought to my house on thursday night, someone had thrown a rock and hit him in the back of the head, and he needed stiches.
We are calling him "little dear" because noone really knows his name. His mother abandonned him since he was just a small toddler, and he has been living in a little shack out in the weeds. A neighbor lady has always checked on him, and takes him food as she can. I just recently found out several other women from a local church take turns taking food out to him.
I was told, he has nothing in the little shack, no clothes shoes, nothing. Apparently his mother is still around the neighborhood, but doesnt have anything to do with him.
Here in haiti,  mentally handicapped children are seen as useless, and unwanted. He is severly malnurished, and can wear michaels 3t clothes( they think he is around 12 or 13).
We had quite the adventure trying to get him to allow us to suture his wound. Joel sat in front of him and read to him the story of Jesus feeding the five thousand. He was excited and repeated some of the story! He had never worn shorts before, so it took a little coaxing to get him to put them on, then when he did, we told him how good he looked, He was so excited, began laughing and jumping up and down!!
Today we were able to clean and dress the wound, and to get him on some vitamins and healthy shakes.  Since his "rock" incident the lady that had been taking food to him, has taken him in to her home to care for him!
Pray that we can help her be a blessing to this "Little Dear".
