Ti Cheri

Meet "ti cheri", a little boy whom I just met this week. He was brought to my house on thursday night, someone had thrown a rock and hit him in the back of the head, and he needed stiches.
We are calling him "little dear" because noone really knows his name. His mother abandonned him since he was just a small toddler, and he has been living in a little shack out in the weeds. A neighbor lady has always checked on him, and takes him food as she can. I just recently found out several other women from a local church take turns taking food out to him.
I was told, he has nothing in the little shack, no clothes shoes, nothing. Apparently his mother is still around the neighborhood, but doesnt have anything to do with him.
Here in haiti,  mentally handicapped children are seen as useless, and unwanted. He is severly malnurished, and can wear michaels 3t clothes( they think he is around 12 or 13).
We had quite the adventure trying to get him to allow us to suture his wound. Joel sat in front of him and read to him the story of Jesus feeding the five thousand. He was excited and repeated some of the story! He had never worn shorts before, so it took a little coaxing to get him to put them on, then when he did, we told him how good he looked, He was so excited, began laughing and jumping up and down!!
Today we were able to clean and dress the wound, and to get him on some vitamins and healthy shakes.  Since his "rock" incident the lady that had been taking food to him, has taken him in to her home to care for him!
Pray that we can help her be a blessing to this "Little Dear".

Early morning Suprise!

This past thursday arrived at the clinic around 8:45, to find this new baby waiting on me! She had been born at 7:30 in her home with her father attending the birth! She is a beautiful little girl, and we were very happy to meet her,  take care of her umbilical cord, bathe and dress her!  She is now a week old and adorable!

The clinic is functioning well, although we always see less patients during the summer months it seems. We have been seeing more positive cases of Aids recently. It has been a huge opportunity to council and pray with patients however,  we ask that you please pray for our clinic and its future.
The clinic is such an influence on the community, but we are struggling to keep up with the demands of our patients, mainly due to the lack of funding. We want to provide quality health services to the community, but fall short of our budget every month.  We have big visions for the clinic, but are lacking in monthly support for it.
We ask that you spread the word about the clinic, and if possible give towards the monthly budget!!

Ti Madame Update

Ti madame went home this past week. She threw all her exams away, when I asked her why, she said that the doctors told her there was nothing they could do for the cancer, She was in God's hands! She went home trusting that her great physician will heal her! Please keep her in your prayers.

Tiny Miracle!

Some of you may remember last year a baby being put in a sack of rice and being thrown away. Well, here she is a year later! She is growing like crazy, is healthy, cutting teeth and almost walking on her own! Anna Moriah is truly a tiny miracle!

"Did she see your feet?"

We have several elderly patients that have Diabetes, and we seem to not be able to get control of it. I spend alot of time educating and talking with them. Just this past week we decided to give them all the same date to come, to make education easier.
We have been giving nutritional advise, medication etc.. They are the sweetest and cutest people! Always joking and  always happy. I had been fussing at them all about there feet, protecting there feet and the reasons why. Thursday, we were  having "school," and the one was late coming in, I heard the other say, " Did she see your feet yet."? " Your in big trouble!"  :)
I think we have resolved the "shoe" issue, now if we can just get the diet and meds down!! Please keep them in your prayers!!

Laboratory update

Laboratory

Half way There!!
We have completed the actual building! We are getting much closer to our goal. The laboratory turned out to be much larger than what we expected. We may have an empty room, where we can offer some other service to the people. Listed below is what we have left to do in our laboratory project.

1. Install sinks, toilets, shower
2. Install windows
3. Install counter tops, desk and chairs
4. Flooring
5. Painting
6. Laboratory Equipment
We would like to get into the new laboratory by the fall! Please help us pray that God will bless our efforts in this project. If you would like to donate towards the laboratory project. Please contact Sandra at sandrasc45@yahoo.com or April at hessapril73@yahoo.com .

Ti Madame

The patient that I wrote about last week that was going into surgery, was not able to operate. The surgeons said it was too advanced. They gave her 6months to a year to live.
She is in alot of pain, and is obviously sad about the news. Please keep her in your prayers. She has such a good attitude and spirit about her.

Busy Week!!

It has been a very busy few weeks! We have done some projects in the clinic, we finally have all the windows secured! Just need to put the windows in!
We has a team of 16 here last week. We spent a day out in the mountains doing a mobile clinic and building benches for the church. We were able to see over 175 patients! That evening we were able to show the Jesus film to the community.
The team worked a few days in the clinic, seeing patients and organizing in our pharmacy. It was a huge success and we thank them for all the hard work! They brought us a doppler, and some other much needed supplies! Thank you Flint Groves Baptist Church!

We are still doing our best to try to get control of the typhoid, thankfully this week we had fewer cases. We do have a major problem with water in our community. Ever since the 2010 earthqauke, there is alot of standing water.
For those of you who prayed for Emit, thanks so much! God has heard your prayers! I went to the mountains this week, and she is doing much better. She is walking, and starting to talk really well. She has lost function of her right arm, but has very high spirits, and was testifying to God's mercies.
She is going thru alot of persecution from her family, but is determined that she has left the life of voodoo behind. Please continue to pray for her recovery and for her spiritual strength.

Typhoid

We have been having a outbreak of typhoid cases in the last 2 months. We have been working hard to get the patients to understand the importance of completing the treatment and prevention. Just this past week we had 35 cases.
Here are two small children who have typhoid, but in spite of being sick, they were playful and adorable!

Please keep us in your prayers as we try to get control of this epidemic. The little boy is Jackconer and his sister, Dialine.
